These disorders, which primarily affect the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system, are associated with repeated or sustained exertions in awkward or static postures, or with a high concentration of stress in the upper extremities.Research conducted at various worksites over the last few years confirmed earlier observations that attributed many of the CTDs to improperly designed work surfaces and/or improper selection of tools that place excessive stress on the tendons, muscles and nerves. In an occupational setting, the recommended intervention is to modify or redesign the job or tool to minimise the sources of biomechanical trauma. Based on the theory that work-related trauma is the principle casual factor, such action should result in a reduced incident of occupational musculoskeletal disorders. The information contained within this manual will help health professionals, workers and employers be more cognizant of the types of work patterns that have potential to cause various CTDs and be aware of the ergonomic interventions that can be adopted to reduce these problems in the workplace."--Provided by publisher. Originally published: The fourth of May. Buffalo, N.Y. : Prometheus Books, c1990. With new introd. The growth of e-learning and distance education today creates an increasingly pressing need for research and writing on the pedagogy of e-learning. Teams are, or should be, an integral component of e-learning. "Teaching and Learning with Virtual Teams" develops this concept by investigating many issues around teams in the virtual and hybrid classroom, bringing a variety of current research and practice on the subject of virtual and collaborative teams in teaching and learning together in a single accessible source. The issues covered by this book include, but are not limited to, theoretical models, pedagogy of e-learning, virtual team design and management, collaborative learning, and strategies for effectiveness in teaching and learning. These issues are considered in virtual or online classes as well as an added pedagogical element in "traditional" classes. Chapters of this book include: (1) Seven Principles of Good Practice for Virtual International Collaboration (Diane Boehm and Lilianna Aniola-Jedrzejek); (2) Learning Style Flexibility for Effective Virtual Teams (Pieter Toit and Peter Petegem); (3) From WebQuests to Virtual Learning (Robert Zheng); (4) Team Effectiveness in Virtual Environments (Pnina Shachaf and Noriko Hara); (5) Learning in a Geographically Dispersed Context (Rashmi Assudani); (6) Virtual Study Groups (Gregory Northcraft, Terri Griffith, and Mark Fuller); (7) Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (Kara Orvis and Andrea Lassiter); (8) A Blueprint for Assessing Learning in Virtual Teams (Patricia O'Conner and Susan Godar); (9) One School/Two Campuses (Anne-Laure Fayard); (10) Students International Collaboration Projects (SICP) (Kathryn Hashimoto and Jean-Marc Lehu); (11) Computer Mediated Technology as Tools for Social Interaction and Educational Processes (Karen Stout); and (12) Virtual Teams in the Traditional Classroom (Stephen Rains and Craig Scott). Preface; Technical Notes; PART A: STATE DATA; PART B: METROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREA (MSA) DATA; APPENDIX. Offering an intimate look at the people and places of Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan, this memoir by adventurer and historian Mathew Wilson recounts journeys into remote areas as a member of the British army and with his family in the late 1960s. Wilson relates stories of crossing the Hindu Kush with his pregnant wife and two-year-old son and running a gauntlet of armed border guards to get his injured son to a hospital. Twenty-one years later, Wilson returned to honor a promise made to a Hindu priest in Central India—to seek, find, and follow the fleeting shadow of the Rani of Jhansi, one of the heroines of India's 1957 revolt against British rule. First ed. edited by Zu-hua Gao. A traumatized war correspondent flees to the anonymity of Paris and tries to write his memoirs. He resurrects a friendship with a Vietnam vet, and befriends a beautiful, scarred women who fled Lebanon with her family. Available as part of a database: InfoSci-Online. "Now for the first time, it is revealed through analytical duplication what for the past two decades a team known as the CE4 Research Group has discovered, using guidelines for redundancy similar to methods employed by scientists and investigators, to illustrate repeatability, and thus 'cause and effect.' Documenting more that 300 actual text cases, 'experiencers, ' (as they are called in abduction communites) have witnessed their abuse permanently stopped due to this research. In esssence, they have been 'cured' of an unknown malady through what most in the public will find as shocking, disturbing or a confirmation of faith--the power of Jesus' name!"--Page 4 of cover. "A translation of Pratum spirituale by John Moschos (Moschus), from the Greek text of J.-P. Migne, Patrologia Graeca 87:2851-3116, compared with the Latin text in Migne, Patrologia Latina 74:119-240, with supplementary texts from Elpidio Mioni, 'Il pratum spirituale di Giocanni [sic] Mosco: gli episodi inediti del Cod. It's easy to trust in the Lord when everything's going your way, but there are times when the challenges and difficulties of life can leave us physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted. Brent Top describes how we han be strengthened by the hand of the Lord when the storms of life are raging. -- container. Released as motion picture in 2009. Supplementum primum 1981 Once again, Yvonna Harris, D.C.'s favorite villainess has returned! But is she cured or still the same girl that has been causing destruction and reeking havoc on all those who cross her list. Recently being released from the mental institution which held her captive for years, Yvonna returns home with one goal in mind. To take care of her precious daughter, Delilah, and be the mother she herself never had. But the moment she touches down, she comes face to face with old skeletons. Skeletons who want their own revenge and nothing short of Yvonna's life will suffice. Realizing she's done too much to hide, she seeks out the help of an old friend, Bricks. She quickly finds out that there's no escape when everywhere you look, death stares you down.
